Model Rocketry Launch Control Systems

RO Worldwide is a division of the Decent Exposure Group. RO Worldwide was started to provide a heavy duty, reliable launch control system for hobbyists and groups involved in Model Rocketry. RO Worldwide was started by Jim Robertson and Michael Overacker. Jim does most of the design work while Michael does the electronics and case assembly. Below are the models that we produce. These models are prototypes and they are personally used by Michael Overacker. Launch Control Systems can be produced for your individual needs.

Announcing Two New Launch Control Systems

from RO Worldwide

RO Worldwide is announcing the upcoming production of 2 new Launch Control Systems. Based on the successful MPLCS260 Launch Controller, the new systems will build on the ideas and lessons learned from our first controller. Plans are to start shipping the new controller after October 1st, 1998. We have left the information of the MPLCS260 on the page until the FALCON and EAGLE are in production.

Notice: As of September 1, 2000, the Falcon, Eagle, and Hawk Launch Systems will be in re-evaluation (again) with some improvements to the respective systems. Although there have been no complaints with the Launch Control Systems to date, we have addressed a couple of areas that make us feel more confident in our Launch Systems as one of the most reliable and safest systems on the market. The new prototypes will be built and tested during the month of June, and we should be ready to implement the improvements as of October 1, 2000. All current orders will have the enhancements added at no extra charge. If you have a system on order, you will be notified of the changes to the Launch Systems.

The FALCON Launch Control System

The EAGLE Launch Control System

The FALCON Launch Control System is loosely based on the MPLCS260 Launch Control System. The FALCON has the capability to prepare and connect 6 rockets for launch. However, for reasons of safety, only one rocket may be launched at a time with this controller. This makes this controller ideal for the individual, club, school, or group that wants the ability to set up multiple launch pads, but maintain launch control in one place. This controller features dual-button launch, safety interlock, and instant arming control shutdown.

The EAGLE Launch Control System expands on the FALCON Launch Control System. It also features dual-button launch, safety interlock, and instant arming control shutdown. However, the EAGLE has the ability to launch all 6 of it's rockets at the same time. We do not recommend this type of launch, but we have had so many people asking for this feature on custom systems that we have decided to make it a standard feature on the EAGLE. For those who have been considering a custom system from RO Worldwide, this may be the system that you have been looking for.

The HAWK Launch Control System

The HAWK Launch Control System expands on the EAGLE Launch Control System, mainly in size. It features dual-button launch, safety interlock, and instant arming control shutdown. However, the HAWK has the ability to fire from 12 to 24 motor ignitions at the same time, depending on configuation. Once again, we do not recommend this type of launch. But if you have the need to prepare a quantity of multi-engine rockets for launch, this launch system could be your answer. This system allows you to set individual connections for each motor on a multi-engine rocket. This way, you can check continuity on each connection and arm all of the connections you need to simultaneous ignition. No more failed ignitions due to splitters that show continuity on all motors, even if one or more does not have continuity.

RO Worldwide MPLCS260 (Out of Production)
The image above left is the face of the Model MPLCS260. This model feature single launch only.

Multiple simultaneous launches are not available on this prototype.

This unit has a button to control an imaging system to photograph or videotape a launch right from the launch panel.

Safety features include:

Bright 5 MM Power LED

Safety Interlock Key and dual button launch

Bright 5 MM Armed LED with audible alarm

Arming Control Switch for instant system shutdown

Continuity LEDS and Armed LEDS for each Launch Rod (Up to 6)

This unit has a rotary switch to choose launch rods, but toggle switches are available to make multiple launches if desired.

The case is made from solid Oak. Electronics are hand wired and rigorously tested before shipping.

The unit has a 1/4 inch - 20 thread socket on the back to allow mounting on a standard

photographic tripod for better launch scene control.
